I, Tomoko Azumi, have visited NasonMoretti factory in Murano, saw the test pieces had made for my prototype. The picture above is a test ‘Murrina’ canes, especially made for this range of products.
This piece is firstly heated, then mounted in the bottom of hot chunk of melted glass, to be shaped, which is blown into a mould. After 3 hours of cooling down, the top part is cut off to be a drinking vessel.
After a few trials, we found correct location of the Murrina and discuss about the final shape of the vessels. Now I pray the proposed shape will be good, together with the final colour of Murrina.
We have visited one of the Murano glass factories – Pino Signoretto, where the skilled masters are making artistic sculptural works. Even in winter the door of the main factory was wide open, several crafts people were working near the heated melting kilns. Kaori’s pieces are under development with them.
